Question

Add the following rational numbers:
$$\dfrac {-6}{11}$$ and $$\dfrac {-4}{11}$$.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let us add the fractions $$\dfrac {-6}{11} + \dfrac {-4}{11}$$
Since it has the same denominators we can add directly, $$\dfrac {-6 + (-4)}{11}$$
The multiplication of $$(+) (-)$$ is $$(-). \therefore$$ We get, $$\dfrac {-6 - 4}{11}\Rightarrow \dfrac {-10}{11}$$.
