Ajivika was an ascetic sect that emerged in India during Buddhism and Jainism. The literal meaning of Ajivika is "Following the ascetic way of Life."This sect was founded by Goshala Maskariputra. It was popular during the reign of Bindusara. The monks of this sect believed in Karma, Fatalism, and Passivity. The Barbara caves in Bihar belonged to this sect only.
