Question

Alkynes having four or more carbon atoms are functional isomers of trienes.
  1. True
  2. False

A
True
B
False
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Trienes in essential oils.
Alkynes are triple bonded compounds(1 sigma and 2 pi bonds) having the general formula CnH2n2. Whereas trienes are alkene compounds that contain 3 double bonds side by side, or alternatively or jumbled.
Alkynes have only one triple bond in their molecule. Thus they are not functional isomers of trienes.

Assertion :Chain isomers shows different skeletons of carbon atom due to branching while keeping the same molecular formula. Because of branching, the linkage of carbon atoms in the parent chain is different which results in different molecules. Reason: Positional isomers have the same functional groups or multiples of them at different positions.
