Question

Among the following, one statement is not correct when a junction diode is in forward bias
  1. the width of depletion region decreases.
  2. free electron on n- side will move towards the junction.
  3. electrons on n-side and holes on p-side will move away from junction.
  4. holes on p-side move towards the junction.

A
the width of depletion region decreases.
B
electrons on n-side and holes on p-side will move away from junction.
C
free electron on n- side will move towards the junction.
D
holes on p-side move towards the junction.
Solution
Verified by Toppr

In forward bias condition, the positive terminal of battery is connected to the p-type and the negative terminal of battery is connected to the n-type. This reduces the width of the depletion region as the charge carriers, i.e., the holes in the p-type region and the electrons in the n-type region are pushed toward the junction.
