Question

An electric field E=(25^i+30^j)NC1 exists in a region of space. If the potential at the origin is taken to be zero then the potential at x=2m,y=2m is
  1. 110J
  2. 140J
  3. 130J
  4. 120J

A
110J
B
140J
C
130J
D
120J
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Potential difference between two points ΔV= work done per unit charge=F.drq=qE.drq
ΔV=E.dr ...(i)
E=25^i+30^j and coordinates of given point r=2^i+2^jdr=dx^i+dy^j substituting values in equation (i)
ΔV=r025^i+30^j.dx^i+dy^j
ΔV=2025dx+2030dy

=[25x]20+[[30y]20

=50+60=110V

VVorigin=110J given Vorigin=0
V=110J hence correct answer is option A
