Question

An iron right circular cone of diameter 8cm and height 12cm is melted and recast into spherical lead shots each of radius 4mm. How many lead shots can be made?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

We have,
d=8 cm
r=4 cm
h=12 cm

We know that the volume of the cone
=13πr2h

So,
=13π×42×12

=π×43 cm3

Since, this cone is melted and recast into a spherical lead which radius is 4 mm

Let the number of lead shots be x.

So,
x×43π×(4 mm)3=π×43 cm3

x×43×43×(0.1 cm)3=43 cm3

x×43×103=1

x×43=1000

x=1000×34=750

Hence, this is the answer.
