Question

At 0C the density of certain oxide of a gas at 2 bar is same as that of dinitrogen at 5 bar. What is the molecular mass of the oxide?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

The expression for density is ρ=MPRT.
When the temperature is constant, M=MPP.
Here, M and P are the molar mass and pressures of nitrogen and M' and P' are the molar mass and pressures of oxide.
Substitute values in the above equation.
M=28×52=70 u
