Augmentation of phosphorylation of glucose in a cell is affected by insulin hormone.
When blood glucose level increases, the beta cell increase their output of insulin and C-peptide. If level of glucose falls down alpha cells becomes active and deliver glucagon to the blood. This is augmented in response to the alterations in blood glucose levels. It is the balance between insulin and glucagon that controls metabolism.
