Question

Briefly explain the role of lungs, liver and skin as excretory organs.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

The lungs help remove the carbon dioxide (the waste product of respiration) formed in the blood by capillary gaseous exchange mechanism at the alveoli, which helps remove it from the lungs. The liver helps excrete metabolic wastes and also helps in removing xenobiotics from the bod. It excretes these waste substances in the bile. The skin has sweat glands which help remove salt and water in the form of sweat. The skin in some organisms (such as earthworm) also acts as the excretory medium for nitrogenous wastes.
