Question

Cathode rays get deflected in an electric field towards ____.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Cathode rays are deflected by the electric as well as magnetic field indicating that they are stream of minute particles catering negative charge.
British physicist J.J Thomson carried out an experiment, he passed the cathode ray in presence of electric and magnetic field which were kept perpendicular to each other. So when cathode rays are subjected to electric field of appropriate voltage so that cathode rays deviate from the path and instead of at Y on the screen, strike at X. This shows cathode rays are stream of minute particles carrying negative charge.
