  • The epithelium is a tissue composed of one or more layers of cells that cover the body surface and line various cavities. Simple epithelial tissues are the ones that are simple in structure and basically formed by a single layer of cells.
  • The simple ciliated epithelium tissues are the ones that have numerous delicate hair-like outgrowths which are known as cilia that arise from basic basal granules which help to create a current to transport the material.
There are two types of such cells - ciliated columnar epithelium which lines the fallopian tube, respiratory tract, and central canal of the spinal cord, and ciliated cuboidal epithelium which occurs in certain parts of the kidney.
  • Endocrine glands are ductless glands whose secretions called hormones are carried to their target by blood. Exocrine glands have ducts that take their secretions to the target site.
