The national calendar of India os based on the Saka Era with Chaitra as its first month and a normal year of 365 days. Dates of the national calendar also have a permanent correspondence with the dates of Gregorian calendar- 1st of Chaitra falling on 22nd of March normally and on 21st of March in a leap year.
