Question

Cottrell precipitator acts on which of the following principles?
  1. Distribution law
  2. Hardy-Schulze rule
  3. Le Chatelier's principle
  4. Neutralization of charge on the colloidal particles

A
Hardy-Schulze rule
B
Neutralization of charge on the colloidal particles
C
Distribution law
D
Le Chatelier's principle
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Cottrell precipitator is also called electrostatic precipitator, works on the principle of electrostatic precipitation.
Like in electrostatic precipitator,
dust of flue gases come near electrode plates and get removed by neutralization of the charge of particles and by gravity, collected in bottom hoppers or any collecting device and clean air just passes through.
Thus option D is correct.
