Describe the energy pyramid.
The energy pyramid depicts the graphical representation of energy flow within the community. The different levels depict the different groups of organisms that constitute the food chain. The energy pyramid is always upright, it can never be inverted because the energy flow from one trophic level to another takes place and some amount of energy is lost as heat at each step. From the bottom to up different trophic levels are as such -
1) Producers: bring energy from the non-living sources into our food chain community.
2)Primary consumers: Herbivores in most of the communities thus eat the producers and derive energy.
3)Secondary consumers: Eat primary consumers, which make them carnivorous organisms.
4)Tertiary consumers: They feed on the secondary consumers.
