Question

Differentiate between oxyhaemoglobin and carbaminohaemoglobin with reference to their formation.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Carbaminohaemoglobin is a compound of hemoglobin and carbon dioxide and is one of the forms in which carbon dioxide exists in the blood. Here the action is similar to that of the formation of a carbamino compound. It accounts for nearly 25% of the carbon dioxide released in the lung. It plays a small part in the transport of carbon dioxide in the blood.
Oxyhaemoglobin is a bright red substance formed by the combination of haemoglobin with oxygen, present in oxygenated blood. Oxyhemoglobin is formed during physiological respiration when oxygen binds to the heme component of the protein hemoglobin in red blood cells. Here, the oxygen molecules are carried to individual cells in the body tissue where they are released.
