Balanced forces Unbalanced forces
If a set of forces acting on a body produce no acceleration in it, then forces are said to be balanced. If a set of forces acting on a body produces some non zero acceleration, forces are said to be unbalanced.
e.g. When we try to push a heavy box and it does not move, the force applied by us is balanced by the friction force acting on the box by the ground.e.g. When we drag a box on the floor, there is an unbalanced force acting on the box.
