DNA is ............, in G2 phase of cell cycle.
  1. 2N
  2. N
  3. 3N
  4. 4N

A
2N
B
3N
C
4N
D
N
Solution
Verified by Toppr

A normal cell cycle comprises of interphase and mitosis. The interphase normally comprises of first growth phase (G1 phase), synthesis phase (S phase) and second growth phase (G2 phase). Because G2 phase follows the S phase and precedes the M phase, the DNA content is 4N. Twice the amount of DNA is expected in a cell in G2 phase as compared to a cell in G1 phase as it has been duplicated during S phase.
So, the correct answer is option A.
