Project Tiger has proved effective for the conservation of endangered animal. Several wildlife sanctuaries and National parks have been set up, hunting and poaching have been banned. It has resulted in success in the recovery of the habitat and increases in the population of tigers from 268 in 9 reserves in 1972 to 2000+ in 2016.
