Question

Energy generation in stars is due to nuclear fusion.
a) How a nuclear fusion is occurred?
b) The energy released in nuclear fission process with uranium is of the order of ________.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

a) At the center of the star there is huge amount of mass which is surrounding, squeezing down all sides. There is hydrogen gas in the core of the stars. It gets squeeze together so tightly that four hydrogen nuclei combine to form one helium atom. This is called nuclear fusion. In the process some of the mass of the hydrogen atoms is converted into energy in the form of light.
b) The energy released in nuclear fission process with uranium is of the order of 200 MeV.
