Question

Explain the difference between leaching and levigation.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Leaching is the process of a solute becoming detached or extracted from its carrier substance by a way of solvent . It is a naturally occurring process.

Levigation is based on the difference in densities of the metallic ore and gangue particles. Powdered ore is treated with a stream on running water when the lighter gangue particles are washed away and heavier ore particles are left behind.
