Insurance is a contract under which one party, called the insurer (insurance company) agrees to cover certain risks of the insured (policyholder) in return for a consideration (insurance premium). In case, such a pre-defined event takes place, the policyholder can claim the assured sum of money from the insurer, to make good for a loss, damage, or injury to something of value in which the insured has a financial interest.
