$∴ \frac{5}{- 13}$ $= \frac{(5 \times (- 1))}{(- 13 \times - 1)}$ $= \frac{- 5}{13}$

$∴ \frac{- 5}{13} = \frac{(- 5 \times 7)}{(13 \times 7)} = \frac{- 35}{91}$
Hence, $\frac{5}{- 13} = \frac{- 35}{91}$
