Question

Find the area of an isosceles triangle whose base is 16 cm and length of each of the equal sides is 10 cm.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given
Base=16cm
Lengh of both equal side =10cm
We will use Herons's formula to find the area
a=16cm
b=10cm
c=10cm
Therefore,
Halfperimeter =s=12×(16+10+10)
=362
s=18cm
using Heron's formula
s(sa)(sb)(sc)
=18(1816)(1810)(1810)=18×2×8×8=2×9×4×2×4×2×2=3×2×2×2×2=48cm2
hence,
The area of given triangle is 48cm2
