Question

Find the area of circle in sq. cms, in which the chord of length 18 cm is at the distance of half of the radius of circle from the centre of circle:
  1. 108π
  2. 54π
  3. 27π
  4. 81π

A
54π
B
27π
C
81π
D
108π
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let the radius of circle be r
Given that distance between center of circle and the chord is r2
So we get 92+(r2)2=r2
3r24=81
r2=27×4=108
Therefore the area of circle is πr2=108π
So the correct option is A
