Question

Find the equivalent fraction of
(i) $$\dfrac{15}{35}$$ with denominator $$7$$.
(ii) $$\dfrac{2}{9}$$ with denominator $$63$$.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

(i) Let the numerator be $$a$$.
Then,
$$\ \ \dfrac{15}{35} = \dfrac{a}{7}\\ \Rightarrow 15 \times 7 = 35 \times a\\ a = \dfrac{15 \times 7}{35}\\ \Rightarrow a = 3$$

$$\therefore \dfrac{15}{35} = \dfrac{3}{7}$$

(ii) Let the numerator be $$x$$
Then,
$$\ \ \dfrac{2}{9} = \dfrac{x}{63}\\ \Rightarrow 2 \times 63 = 9\times x\\ \Rightarrow x = \dfrac{2 \times 63}{9}\\ \Rightarrow x = 14 $$

$$\therefore \dfrac{2}{9} = \dfrac{14}{63}$$
