Question

For NH4HS(s)NH3(g)+H2S(g) the observed,pressure for reaction mixture in equilibrium is 1.12 atm at 1060C.

What is the value of KP for the reaction?

  1. KP=0.04atm2
  2. KP=0.3136atm2
  3. KP=2.76atm2
  4. KP=3.199,atm2

A
KP=3.199,atm2
B
KP=0.3136atm2
C
KP=0.04atm2
D
KP=2.76atm2
Solution
Verified by Toppr

NH4HS(s)NH3(g)+H2 S(g)

Total pressure is 1.12 atm one half of this is equal to partial pressure of ammonia. It is also equal to partial pressure of hydrogen sulphide.

PNH3=PH2S=12×1.12=0.56 at KP=PNH3×PH2S=0.56×0.56=0.314

Thus, the value of Kp for the reaction is 0.3136 .
