String and spring are massless
Apply Newton's second law on 5 kg
ΣF=ma
T5g=5a ....(1)

Apply Newton's second law on 10 kg
ΣF=ma
10gT=10a ....(2)

Adding equation (1) and (2)
a=5g15=5×1015=103 m/s2

Step 2: Reading of spring balance
Reading of spring balance will be force responsible for its elongation.
Tension is responsible for the elongation of spring.
From equation (2)
10gT=10a

10×10T=10×103 T=2003N
