FSH is secreted by anterior pituitary gland. It stimulates growth, development and hormonal secretion of Graafian follicle and ovum maturation. Developing follicles secrete estrogen which in turn causes endometrium thickening during proliferative phase of menstrual cycle. LH is also secreted by anterior pituitary which inhibits secretion of FSH, stimulate maturation and rupture of Graafian follicle and release of ovum. Ovulation is followed by secretory phase/luteal phase in uterus (day 15-28) and is marked by uterine endometrium thickening, under influence of progesterone as secreted by corpus luteum, to prepare it for implantation. This makes option C correct. LTH (luteotropic hormone/prolactin) is secreted by anterior pituitary gland and targets mammary gland to stimulate breast development and milk production after baby birth; this makes option D incorrect. Vassopressin/antidiuretic hormone (ADH) is secreted by posterior pituitary gland and targets nephrons to increase water reabsorption and thereby decreasing water content in urine. Option A is incorrect. Option B is incorrect as testosterone is male sex hormone while estrogen and progesterone are female sex hormones. Correct answer is C.
