Acidic soil is treated with quick lime.
Quick lime is basic in nature. Most of the soil contains acidic substances, which lowers the pH of the soil. In such cases, the growth of plants is badly affected.
Therefore, quick lime is added to the soil to neutralise the acid present in it and bring the pH to 7 which is favourable for growth.
