The water vapour present in the air up to a height of nearly 12000 meters from the surface transforms into clouds by the process of condensation. Clouds from when the temperature of the air falls below due point by the process of adiabatic cooling.
Clouds are generally classified according to their appearance, i.e, shape, structure and vertical extent and their height or altitude. For instance, Cirrus clouds are very thin and white in colour, they are the highest clouds. Cirrostratus clouds look like a white sheet of cloth. The cirrocumulus clouds look like soap foams. The alto-cumulus clouds belong medium cloud, look like piled up cotton wool and many forms in rows like waves. Stratus clouds resemble fog and made up of almost equal layers. These are the some of examples of clouds.
