Bholi enjoys her first day at school as her teacher is kind and friendly towards her. She is glad to see many girls of her own age there. She even hoped that one of them might become her friend. She is fascinated by the colours on the pictures which were hung on the wall. Her teacher encouraged her to put the fear out of her heart and come to school daily. She then gives her a book with several pictures in it and tells Bholi that soon she will be able to speak without stammering. Towards the end of the day she felt her heart throbbing with a new hope and a new life.
