Nano-technology will be useful in the area of energy resources in the following ways:
(i) Nano-materials can interchange electricity and light with minimum energy loss due to their tunable electrical and optical properties.
(ii) Carbonic solar cells and hydrogen fuel cells can be commercialised and power efficiency can thus be increased.
(iii) Lighter, stronger and fuel-efficient vehicles can be designed with the help of nano-materials.
(iv) A highly efficient battery can be manufactured when a thin sheet of cellulose is infused with carbon nano-tubes.
