Question

Identify the type of combination in which $$R_1$$ and $$R_2$$ are connected in the given circuit diagram. Find the equivalent resistance in the given circuit.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given resistance $$R_{ 1 }$$ and $$R_{ 2 }$$ are connected in parallel combination as voltage across both resistance are same.
Equivalent resistance is given by
$$\dfrac { 1 }{ R_{ eq } } =\dfrac { 1 }{ R_{ 1 } } +\dfrac { 1 }{ R_{ 2 } } \\ \Rightarrow \dfrac { 1 }{ R_{ eq } } =\dfrac { 1 }{ 3 } +\dfrac { 1 }{ 6 } \\ \Rightarrow \dfrac { 1 }{ R_{ eq } } =\dfrac { 1+2 }{ 6 } \\ \Rightarrow \dfrac { 1 }{ R_{ eq } } =\dfrac { 3 }{ 6 } \\ \Rightarrow R_{ eq }=2\Omega $$
