Given, $A = B + 40 %$ of $B =$ $B + \frac{40}{100}$ of $B$
$=$ $B + \frac{2}{5} B = \frac{7}{5} B$
Also given, $B = C - 20 %$ of $C =$ $C - \frac{20}{100}$ of $C = C - \frac{1}{5} C$
$= \frac{4}{5} C$
$∴ A = \frac{7 B}{5} = \frac{7}{5} \times \frac{4}{5} C = \frac{28}{25} C$
