Rhododendron is mostly distributed at higher elevations in the Sino-Himalayan region with maximum concentration in Western China. In India, the species are mostly confined to the Himalayan region, particularly in eastern Himalaya. The maximum numbers of Rhododendron are present in the 3001-3500 m altitudes and absent in less than 500 m. Rhododendrons possess large red tubular-campanulate flowers that produce copious amounts of nectar and is pollinated by birds. So, in the absence of birds, they can not pollinate and will be disappeared.
