Question

If the area of a rectangle is 48 sq.m and its diagonal is 10 m, then find its length, breadth, and perimeter.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let length and breadth of rectangle be l and b respectively. Then,
Area of rectangle =48 m2
=l×b=48 m2l=48b(1)
and l2+b2=(10)2=100
from (1), l=48b, we get
(48b)2+b2=1002304b2+b2=100
b4100b2+2304=0
after solving, b=8 or 6
If b=8, then l=488=6 &
If b=6, then l=486=8
Perimeter =2(l+b)
=2(6+8)=28 m
