Question

If the area of the triangle formed by the points (2,3),(4,5) and (3,y) is 10 square units then y=
  1. 193
  2. 213
  3. 233
  4. 253

A
193
B
213
C
233
D
253
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Area of triangle having vertices (x1,y1),(x2,y2) and (x3,y3) is given by
=12×[x1(y2y3)+x2(y3y1)+x3(y1y2)]
Area=12[2(5y)+4(y3)3(3+5)]
=12(10+2y+4y1224)
=12(6y26)=3y13
3y13=10 sq.unit
y=233
