Gene pool or genome is the collective name for all the genes of a particular population. The process like genetic mutation, genetic recombination changes the gene frequency and can bring a considerable change in the gene pool. Extinction leads to deletion of gene from the resultant genome in course of evolution. If the Bengal tiger becomes extinct, its gene pool will be lost for ever.
