Question

If x-coordinate of a point P on the line joining the points Q(2,2,1) and R(5,1,2) is 4 then the z-coordinate of P is
  1. 1
  2. 1
  3. 2
  4. 2

A
2
B
1
C
1
D
2
Solution
Verified by Toppr

For the line segment QR, let P point divide in ratio λ:1, the coordinates aof P are :

X coordinate=λx2+x1λ+1

y=Y coordinate =λy2+y1λ+1

According to question,
(x1,y1,z1)=(2,2,1) and (x2,y2,z2)=(5,1,2)

Since X=4

4=5λ+2λ+1

4λ+4=5λ=2
λ=2

Z coordinate of P =λz2+z1λ+1
=2×(2)+12+1
4+13=1

Option B is correct
