If you subtract $$\dfrac{1}{2}$$ from a number and if the obtained number is multiplied by the by $$\dfrac{1}{2}$$, you get $$\dfrac{1}{8}$$ What is the number. ?

Let be original number be $$x$$

According to the given condition

$$(x-\dfrac{1}{2})(\dfrac{1}{2})=\dfrac{1}{8}$$

$$(x-\dfrac{1}{2})=\dfrac{1}{4}$$

$$x=\dfrac{1}{2}+\dfrac{1}{4}$$

$$=\dfrac{2+4}{8}$$

$$=\dfrac{3}{4}$$
