In a class of 125 students 70 passed in Mathematics, 55 in Statistics and 30 in both. The probability that a student selected at random from the class, has passed in only one subject is
  1. 1325
  2. 1725
  3. 325
  4. 825

A
1325
B
325
C
1725
D
825
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let the given equation be
n(M)=70( students passed in mathematics) ;
n(S)=55( students passed in Statistics) ;
n(MS)=30
Therefore, probability of students passed in mathematics =70125
Probability of students passed in statistics =55125
Implies that, P(MS)=P(M)+P(S)P(MS)
Implies that, P(MS)=70125+5512530125
Hence the result is =1325
