Question

In a parallelogram ABCD, if AB=2x+5,CD=y+1,AD=y+5 and BC=3x4, what is the ratio of AB and BC?
  1. 12:11
  2. 4:7
  3. 31:35
  4. 71:21

A
71:21
B
12:11
C
31:35
D
4:7
Solution
Verified by Toppr

In parallelogram, opposite sides are parallel and equal
AB=CD and AD=BC
2x+5=y+11
3x4=y+52
Equation 2-equation 1
(3x2x)45=0+4
x=13
Put value of x in 1
2(13)+51=y
y=30
ABBC=2x+53x4=2(13)+53(13)4
ABBC=3135
AB:BC=31:35
