Question

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let the number of votes polled be 100 units
No. of votes loser got = 42%×100=42 units
No. of votes winner got =10042=58 units
The difference of the votes between loser and winner is 16 units

ATQ,
16 units = 14400

1 unit = 1440016=900

100 units = 100×900=90000

Total number of votes polled=90,000

Total number of voters eligible for voting =1 Lakh=1,00,000
Numbers of voters who did not vote =1,00,00090,000=10000
Hence, percentage of non-voters = 10000100000×100=10%
10% voters did not vote.
