Question

In Fig., find the area of parallelogram ABCD if the area of shaded triangle is $$9\, cm^2$$.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given, Area of shaded portion $$= 9 \,sq.\, cm$$
Base of triangle $$= 3\, cm$$
Now, area of triangle$$=9$$,
$$\Rightarrow 9 = \cfrac {1}{2} \times 3 \times h $$
$$\Rightarrow h = \cfrac {18}{3}$$
$$\Rightarrow h = 6\, cm$$
Area of parallelogram $$=\text{Base x Height}= BC\times h$$
$$=(3+4)\times 6 =7\times 6 =42\, cm^2$$
