In Fig., two parallel lines $$l$$ and $$m$$ are cut by two transversal $$p$$ and $$q$$. Determine the values of $$x$$ and $$y$$.

In above figure, $$l$$ parallel to $$m$$ and $$q$$ is a transversal.
$$\therefore x=110^o$$ ...Alternate interior angles
Now, $$l$$ parallel to $$m$$ and $$p$$ is a transversal.
$$\therefore y+80^o=180^o$$ ...Co-interior angles
$$\Rightarrow y=180^o-80^o$$
$$\Rightarrow y=100^o$$
Therefore, $$x=110^o$$ and $$y=100^o$$
