Question

In the figure above, lines l and m are parallel and lines s and t are parallel. If the measure of 1 is 35o, what is the measure of 2?

  1. 35o
  2. 55o
  3. 70o
  4. 145o

A
35o
B
70o
C
55o
D
145o
Solution
Verified by Toppr

From the figure, we understand that 1 and 3 together form a straight line.
Thus, 1+3=1800
350+3=1800
3=1450
Now, since l and m are parallel lines cut by transversals s and t, 3 an 4 are corresponding angles.
We know that corresponding angles are equal. Thus 4=3=1450
Similarly 2 an 4 are corresponding angles.
Thus 2=4=1450

Line l is parallel to line m as shown in the above figure. Transversals t and u intersect at point A on l and intersect m at points C and B, respectively. Point X lies on line m, the measure of ACX is 130, and the measure of BAC is 80. Find the number of angles formed by rays l, m, t, and u which have measure 50.
