Question

.In the following figures, diodes are either forward biased or reversed biased. Choose the following:
Pleft diode
Qright diode

  1. both (P) and (Q) reverse biased
  2. both (P) and (Q) forward biased
  3. (Q) is forward biased and (P) is reverse biased
  4. (P) is forward biased and (Q) is reverse biased

A
(P) is forward biased and (Q) is reverse biased
B
(Q) is forward biased and (P) is reverse biased
C
both (P) and (Q) reverse biased
D
both (P) and (Q) forward biased
Solution
Verified by Toppr

In forward bias condition, the positive terminal of battery is connected to the p-type and the negative terminal of battery is connected to the n-type.
Here, in first figure, p-type is at +8V and n-type is at 2V i.e. p-type is more positive than n-type.
And in second figure, p-type is at 8V and n-type is at 2V i.e. p-type is more negative than n-type.
Hence, (P) is forward biased and (Q) is reverse biased.
