The poet will have to rely on faith and intuition as he makes his choice, as we often must do in life. ‘Woods’ in the poem stand for the complexities of human life. Life is like a maze. The ‘forks’ stand for the ‘alternatives’ or ‘options’ life provides to reach the destination.
