Vitamins help to regulate chemical reactions in the body.  There are 13 vitamins, including vitamins A, B complex, C, D, E, and K. Deficiency of vitamin D results in reduced absorption of calcium and phosphorus, making it difficult to maintain proper calcium and phosphorus levels in bones, which can cause rickets. It is found in children and adolescents.
Hence, rickets is caused by deficiency of Vitamin D.
