Question

M is the center of the circle and lies on ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯RU and ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ST. Which of the following statements is NOT true with respect to the above figure?

  1. TUM measure 65
  2. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯TU is parallel to ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯RS
  3. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯RS¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯SM
  4. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯RM¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯TM

A
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯TU is parallel to ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯RS
B
TUM measure 65
C
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯RS¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯SM
D
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯RM¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯TM
Solution
Verified by Toppr

From the figure,
In RMS and TMU
RM=TM=SM=UM ...... (Radii of the circle)
RMS=TMU=50 ........ (Vertically opposite angles)
The triangles are congruent ....... (Using SAS Postulate)

RS=TU and RS||TU

In TMU,
MTU+TMU+MUT=180 ------sum of interior angles of a triangle

MUT=MTU -------angles opposite to equal side in triangle

MUT=180502

MUT=65

Therefore, from the given options only C is not true.
